Moore Barlow
"Outcome Thinking Day"

Who Are They?
Moore Barlow LLP, based in the South of England, is a UK-based law firm offering a broad spectrum of legal services including personal injury, family law, property, employment and corporate work.
The firm emphasises a partner-led, specialist approach combined with flexibility and an outcome focus to ensure you get the legal results you really want, with efficiency and ease.
What did they want?
In the words of one of their partners, the leadership team wanted to:
"Go away with a clearer understanding of how to focus on outcomes in our professional roles and personal lives, rather than getting bogged down in unnecessary worry about how to solve something".
As a team of lawyers, they also wanted to improve their leadership matters and organisation to reduce the amount of time dealing with inconsequentials.

What did we provide?
Two of the team had previously attended an Achievement Accelerator Open Course. It was here that they heard about Outcome Thinking and they were impressed with the power it could have if added to their company culture. It was for this reason they came back.

In the morning, we focused on Outcome Thinking and how that can break the cycle of dealing with problems and generating ineffective solutions.
We also worked on clarifying their vision to create statements that could be remembered and worked with by everyone in the organisation.

In the afternoon we pivoted to Leadership Matters and created a number of scenarios that exposed and illustrated the frustrations of many leadership and management roles. This helped unravel a few issues to be considered going forward.
What was the Result?

The team generated a much simpler vision and mission. One that could be remembered and acted upon by all in the business.
-
They learnt and practiced the skill of thinking in outcomes.
-
They learnt how to better deal with Leadership Matters.
-
They went out of the farm and fed the calves.
-
They had a fun and experiential day out of the office.

"It was a great experience for understanding the pressures for middle management- taking instructions from leaders above who have the vision, not being sure why I was taking those instructions and trying to convey them meaningfully to my team to complete a task"!

"Hi Jamie, thanks for the hospitality, the humbling refresher on some really important lessons and the opportunity to have a peak of life on the farm.
I felt like a rock-star coming home and telling my 5 year old I helped feed some baby cows!
Take care and hope to see you again".

Botley Parish Council
"Strategy Day"
Who Are They?

Botley Parish Council are a council of a fast changing village in Hampshire. They have a new bypass being built, loads of new houses and infrastructure and priorities that needed upgrading.
They are a forward thinking team. Forward thinking enough to take time out to re-establish more productive ways of working together.
What did they want?
They wanted to create a single sentence vision that they could all get behind.
And they wanted to improve the way they worked together in meetings and on projects.

What did we provide?
We invited them to Meon Springs for a day of learning and experience.

With the method we used, they quickly came up with a top level vision that they could all get behind.
But as you'll know, that's not the end of the story. The next step was to align their many goals and aspirations to ensure that action was consistent and in alignment with their new vision. By lunchtime, we had them running the farm - in our Farm Strategy game.
After a working lunch we headed for the woods, where the team opened up to new ideas and insights in a unique style of meeting designed to help them more easily work together for the greater good of the parish.
"Botley - A Place where everyone wants to call home"
What was the Result?

They learnt a number of new skills around how to create and establish a vision and work in alignment to achieve new goals.
Also in the morning, there was a lot of cross chatter and frustrations as everyone tried to talk at once and some pushing forward personal agendas.

By the end of the afternoon, they had established a new way of holding a meeting that they plan to adopt going forward.

My guess it will be a lot more productive and as a council they will fly.

The work continues.

We're here > I want to get here > deal with challenges to get the outcome".

They enjoyed time to meet up and network. They liked the Sound Bath, Mindful Walk and Foraging Exercise.

They had an amazing couple of days, starting with a meeting in "The Yurtery" followed by some icebreaker activities and then out to the shooting ground for some clay shooting.

After a night of fun and games at The Yurt Village, breakfast was self-served and then three 45 minute Walks were undertaken. A Nature Walk, A Cognitive Walk and a Mindful Walk.
